Deer Valley Is Changing BIG Time: The New Snow Park Village
Big changes are coming to Deer Valley. The Park City Planning Commission just gave the green light for a massive transformation of the Snow Park base area — a genuine game changer for skiers, visitors, and the future of the resort.
The plan: Deer Valley is moving parking underground to create space for an all-new base village — 120 hotel rooms, 100 condos, 30,000 square feet of commercial space, and a new event center, with talk of a new ski club that could be a serious perk for pass holders and locals. If you've skied Deer Valley, you know Snow Park gets packed; this project is designed to elevate the entire experience.
The parking shake-up is the part to pay attention to. A three-level underground garage brings 1,971 spaces — but only 1,360 for day skiers, with the rest reserved for hotel guests and shoppers. On-street parking on Deer Valley Drive disappears after this ski season. And Deer Valley plans to start charging for parking, though they haven't said how much or when. If you've been used to free parking, that's a big shift.
Traffic and transit: a new underground transit center, a new signal, a roundabout, shared transit lanes — and Deer Valley has committed to building a gondola connecting Snow Park to East Village, a crucial link for future skier flow.
The construction reality: ground breaks May 2025. Expect roughly 700 day-skier spots for the 2025–26 season, dropping to about 400 by summer 2026 and the 2026–27 season — a 75% reduction — with no summer concerts in 2026 or 2027. The full build takes five years, and Deer Valley expects many skiers to shift to the new East Village base during construction.
Big picture: short-term headaches, long-term transformation — more luxury lodging, more shopping, and a completely reimagined Snow Park, with over 800 additional daily trips projected once complete. It's one of the biggest changes in Deer Valley's history, and whether you love it or hate it, it's happening.
