The FOX US Open Is Coming to Deer Valley
Park City is getting something back that it lost almost 20 years ago: elite, professional downhill mountain bike racing. The Fox US Open of Mountain Biking is coming to Deer Valley's Bald Eagle Mountain, September 11–13, 2026 — the final stop of the Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series, which is the official U.S. National Mountain Bike Championship sanctioned by USA Cycling. Think of it as one rung below the UCI World Cup, the same circuit whose riders compete at the Olympics.
The headline facts: the event runs September 10–13 with pro finals on Saturday, September 12. The course is the resort's historic National Championship Series line — starting at the top of Bald Eagle Mountain, running through the Little Stick, Big Stick, and Champion trails down to Snow Park Lodge — the same terrain that hosted NORBA championship racing in the late '90s and 2000s, now modernized for today's bikes and speeds.
Two things set the US Open apart from almost any other elite sporting event. First, amateurs can enter and race the exact same course as the pros — the field is genuinely open. Second, watching is free: general admission just requires an online RSVP through deervalley.com, with details rolling out over the coming weeks.
Deer Valley's Senior Director of Mountain Operations Garrett Lang has framed this as the resort going back to its roots — and for Park City, it's a statement about being a year-round mountain sports town, not just a ski destination. The city council approved it unanimously, with an estimated 10,000 visitors and about $1.25 million in economic activity over the three days. Watch the full video above for what to expect, and keep an eye on deervalley.com for the RSVP link.
