What’s Happening in Park City This 4th of July
Park City doesn't do the 4th of July halfway — there are three separate celebrations happening around town, and every year I watch visitors find out about the good stuff a day too late. So here's the actual roadmap.
Main Street & City Park — the classic
The parade rolls down historic Main Street at 11 a.m. — get there early, because the curb space goes fast and the whole town shows up. Afterward, everything moves to City Park: food trucks, live music, games, and that small-town-America energy that feels surreal against a backdrop of ski runs. Cap it with the drone show at 10 p.m. — Park City swapped fireworks for drones years ago (wildfire country), and honestly the show is better for it.
Canyons Village — Forum Fest
Over at Canyons Village, Forum Fest runs free for all three nights of the holiday weekend — live bands, a festival village vibe, and its own drone show that launches about 20 minutes after Main Street's. Locals' move: you can catch both shows if you position right, or skip the Main Street crowds entirely and get the full show from the Canyons base with a fraction of the parking headache.
Oakley — the rodeo
Twenty minutes east, the Oakley Rodeo is the real deal — one of Utah's great small-town Independence Day traditions. Fair warning: rodeo tickets sell out as early as February, so if you're reading this the week of, that ship has sailed. But Oakley's parade and kids' activities are free and open, and the drive through the Kamas Valley is worth it on its own.
The real-estate footnote
I'll keep it short: weekends like this are why Park City's short-term rental calendar isn't just a winter story. The summer event slate — July 4th, arts festivals, Tour of Utah-style race weekends — keeps occupancy strong when the lifts aren't spinning, and it's a real part of the math for anyone weighing an income property here. Also just — it's a great weekend to live here. Happy 4th.
